Frequently asked questions
Is the free tier really free forever?
Yes. The Servonaut app and CLI are MIT licensed and open source. You can use them indefinitely with no restrictions. The paid tiers add cloud features, AI analysis, and team collaboration on top of the same app.
What does the monthly AI allowance cover?
Every paid plan includes Servonaut AI. Solo includes £4.50 of AI use each month; Teams includes £14.50 per seat, pooled into one balance the whole team shares. It's one balance for everything AI — chat, server scans and memory summaries all draw on it — shown in money, with a rough “≈ requests left” alongside.
Does unused allowance roll over?
No. Your allowance renews every month on your billing date, and whatever is left of the previous month's allowance expires then. Top-ups work differently — see below.
What happens when my AI balance runs low or runs out?
As you near the end of your monthly allowance, requests switch to a faster, lower-cost model so the balance stretches further. When the balance is empty, AI requests stop until your allowance renews — or straight away if you add a top-up. We never charge you more without you choosing to.
How do top-ups work?
A top-up is a one-off payment that adds to your AI balance —
£5 adds £5.00 and £20 adds £20.00.
Top-ups last 365 days from purchase and are only used after your monthly allowance runs out. Buy one from the Billing page or with
servonaut ai topup.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly billing?
Yes. You can switch between billing periods at any time. When switching from monthly to yearly, you will be prorated for the remaining time on your current billing cycle.
What happens to my data if I downgrade?
Your data is always yours. If you downgrade from Solo to Free, your cloud config snapshots remain accessible in read-only mode for 30 days, giving you time to export anything you need. The Servonaut app and CLI keep working normally on your machine.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the billing page — no questions asked, no cancellation fees. Your plan, including Servonaut AI, keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for.

What is an MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools. A hosted MCP server lets AI agents like Claude interact with your infrastructure through Servonaut, enabling natural-language server management.
Why does the Free tier have no AI?
Hosted AI involves real API costs we pay to providers on every request. Solo and Teams plans are priced to cover those costs; Free is designed for the open-source app and CLI alone. You can always use Servonaut with your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, or a local Ollama instance at no extra charge.
